About The MMB Program
The Master of Microbial Biotechnology (MMB) program is a Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program that integrates training in biotechnology with business and professional development. Graduate students obtain experience in real-world practicum projects with biotechnology companies, acting as graduate consultants while simultaneously taking graduate level coursework in microbiology, biotechnology, biomanufacturing, and data analytics.
Industry Practicum Projects

Novonesis
Novonesis is at the forefront of biotechnological advancements with a renewed focus on enhancing animal health and nutrition through the use of probiotics and supplemental enzymes.
The project involved a comprehensive analysis of industry trends, competitor strategies, customer needs, and regulatory landscapes to identify untapped opportunities for Novonesis.
Teamwork and Communication

Aquaculture, Probiotics, and Enzymes
Completed a literature review along with a presentation focused on the evaluation of probiotics and enzymes within the aquaculture industry as an extension to the Novonesis fall 2024 practicum.

Novonesis Project
A semester long practicum project with Novonesis that focused on the evaluation of the animal probiotics and enzyme market, competitors, customer segmentation and regulatory overview.

CMI-BAM Project
Half-semester project of the commercial and technological evaluation of Novel BIOPLY therapeutics for pluri-microbial pneumonia and influenza for swine and human health.
